The Parish Council would like to remind householders and landowners with properties bordering footpaths and highways, of their responsibility to maintain hedgerows and remove resulting debris, to allow clear access along the village footpaths. The parish council has received several messages from members of the public about hedges and vegetation encroaching onto pavements and footpaths in the village, Slyne Road/Bypass Rd in particular, along with complaints about the weed growth throughout the village.
Who is Responsible for other Hedgerow and Vegetation Management?
Lancashire County Council are responsible for weed control on the public highway.
Lancaster City Council, on behalf of Lancashire County Council, cut the highway grass
verges within the village boundaries.
Who is responsible for Grass Cutting?
Lancaster City Council/Lancashire County Council. BLS Parish Council has a grass maintenance contract with City council which includes the recreation area etc.
